Jennifer Anne Keyte was born on 21 January, 1961, and grew up in the suburb of Essendon. Her career started as a cadet at EON-FM radio (now Triple M) , then moved to 3XY. Her television career started on Channel 10 back in 1982, then Jennifer moved to Channel Seven in September 1987 to co-host the Evening News, going solo from February 1988.
Jennifer was the first female solo news anchor in Melbourne, and indeed the first in any capital city in Australia. Jennifer filled this position until December 1995, when she resigned after Seven announced she was to be joined by David Johnston. Jen then took up a position with the Nine Network in 1996 , where she produced and anchored a series of specials. 1997 saw Jen hosting two high-rating shows with national exposure "Good Medicine", and "Moment of Truth". 1998 and 1999 saw the return of "Good Medicine", going onto bigger and better things. Have a look at their website.
Jen enjoys bike riding, walks in Melbourne's Botanical Gardens, driving her new cornflower blue '62 Porsche, dancing, and quiet nights at home. She used to practice Tai-Chi, but doesn't find the time anymore. Jen married Ben Faggetter in December 1999, lives in South Yarra, and has a couple of cats (names unknown as yet). Jen is currently pregnant, due in March 2000.
Jen is a supporter of the Essendon Football Club (Australian rules for those not from Oz), is on the Board of the Royal Women's Hospital Charity Committee, and joined the board of the Melbourne Theatre Company in 1994. Jen was on the board of the Royal Children's Hospital charity Committee until 1996. Jen is now very involved with charity work for Breast Cancer research.
My own personal impressions of Jen : Friendly, charming, patient, with a real soft spot for children. Since starting at Nine, Jen has a much more relaxed on-air style, and is obviously enjoying the much more varied assignments. She also has a very good memory, and answers correspondence with a personal touch.
By the way, she dislikes being called "Jenny", and values her privacy.
